MIT Museum--a Wonderful Visit

On the first leg of our trip with our visitors from France, we visited the MIT Museum in Cambridge Mass. It is currently showing an exhibition of science-related photos by Berenice Abbott.  The caption for Abbott's stroboscopic image of a bouncing ball is below it on the wall.

The Abbott show is only one of several fascinating exhibitions and permanent displays--all of them superbly mounted.  The Abbott show includes a dramatic large-scale print of her photograph of my father's generator at MIT, which she hung in her home in Maine--it served as background for her portrait by Yousuf Karsh, which accompanies the generator image in the exhibit.  We had lunch with the director of the Museum (curator of the exhibition) and the staff person in charge of the science collections.

Afterwards we picked up our friends at Logan Airport and drove north with them to the Gloucester area, which we'll visit for the next two days.
