Golden Hornet Crab Apple Tree

This Golden Hornet looks lovely in the sun so had to be my blip for today  -  yes, we did have a few seconds of sunshine this afternoon:-)  I cut it down a few years ago  -  I forget why  -  you can see the stump with the new branches growing.  It decided it wanted to live longer and last year sprouted some new branches. This year it gave fruit.  Strangely bigger and in more abundance than originally!  It deserves to live!  The fruit is very small  -  see the one I'm holding  -  and edible, but I've never eaten them.  The blackbirds prefer the bigger crab apples and have never gone for the Golden Hornets.
