When in Spain..

Today we had our first Spanish lesson. Unsurprisingly we were sent to the remedial class for those with only a smattering of Spanish, gained from occasional duo lingo sessions on the computer and in my case ongoing battles with the Spanish teacher whilst at school.
Now I have a greater motivation than in my school days as we try to communicate better with the natives of Ibiza (despite their preferred tongue being Catalan).

Thankfully there were some other British and a couple from South Africa who seemed similarly out of their depth and needing the rubber rings of translation to keep them afloat. We will persevere. At least we have plenty of time to practice. Purchased an English/Spanish dictionary as a further buoyancy aid.
Grateful I am learning Spanish with Suzy and that the sun is shining and that we met some new people through our foreign language experience.
