Too close?

This bonny female goosander let me get much closer than I expected, but I think this was because she had an injury to her other eye. She did go into the water when I got very close and was clearly able to swim, so I hope she will survive. But it must be a disadvantage to have only a half of your field of view.

This is at Craiglockhart Pond, next to the leisure centre where I started a class to improve my balance - I've got osteoporosis, so falling over isn't a great idea. I hope the course works! Next week I will take my SLR - I was lucky today to find a bird who I could get close to as I didn't have much of a zoom.
