Blooming lovely

I love the wonderfully vibrant colours of our flowers. I just can't understand the need to create artificial colours like those brilliant pinks and blues you sometimes see in carnations and chrysanths especially.
I remember during biology lessons at school putting various flowers in inks to show the way the liquid moved up the stems and right through to the petals...osmosis I think!
