Grease is the word

A hit of sneaky midweek telly whilst she ate her tea after musical theatre. They have finished their Greased Lightning showcase piece so she wanted to watch some Grease!

I did a mock audition with her this morning, we haven't long to go until the real thing. I wanted to practice the flow of it, the "one time chance", auditioner questions, the concept of prepared sightreading and remind her of unseen sightreading. She did great! It amuses me how even a pretend audition makes her up her game.

She came home quite pleased with how her recorder lesson went today. The first two were reasonably torturous for her. At the last one, the teacher gave her the class book and said she could play through it at her own leisure. She brought it home and had done the lot in ten minutes, perfectly. I sent her to today's lesson with one of her own books. The teacher spent some time playing pieces from it with her then gave her the second class book and told her she could whizz through that at home. One of her classmates asked if katie could play something to the class. The teacher liked the idea and Katie chose to play Bare Necessities. She was delighted to get 10 marbles for the jar (normally they get one or two marbles at a time). The new book will occupy her for possibly 20 minutes but she was much happier!
