Eastern Cape comes to West Coast

My favourite red-hot poker,  Kniphofia rooperi. This grew well at Arduaine and when we had to move it I potted up a piece and brought it with me when I moved to Oban - it's still in a pot, awaiting a garden!

It's a lovely chunky poker, a native of the Eastern Cape in South Africa where it apparently grows in coastal bogs. This doesn't mean that it will grow in coastal bogs in Scotland, but it's worth investigating!

I grew it behind a blue lacecap hydrangea at Arduaine - see extra - and will do the same here when I'm able to plant it!
