We headed out for Dovedale today. It's a usually a busy spot at the weekends, so we set off reasonably early to avoid the masses.

As my other half had never scaled the dizzy heights of this hill this is what we attacked at the start of the walk. It's actually a reef knoll, and the double sunset phenomenon can be seen against this hill from nearby Lin Dale around the summer solstice.

The area has also been used in the Robin Hood film starring Russell Crowe. The highest point is  287m (942ft). This shot is taken looking down into Dovedale at the River Dove. The famous stepping stones are just below the weir in the top right of the shot.

We walked along the valley to Milldale and back. Just under 11 miles. We stopped for some lunch at Milldale where I was harassed by some very determined mallards!!
