The Praefectus was OK!

I took this photo of the praetorium at Housteads Roman Fort.  This is where the praefectus, or commanding officer, lived.  Housteads is quite compact and housed 800 men in what looked like very cramp accomodation - it's located on a very exposed hillside and every time I've been it's been very cold and very windy.  This was no exception.  Good to see that the praefectus still had his under-floor heating though.

This area dates back to at least AD150.
