Black Grouse

OK - so it's a rather crude wooden interpretation of a black grouse, made by one of my grandchildren at the Peebles Wood Market - part of the Tweed Valley Forest Festival.

Hopefully I'll make a better attempt at the e-Uke I'm planning to make from a rather nice piece of yew that I bought at the same market.  Originally I was planning to use twisted bamboo - but this piece of yew has such a lovely and distinctive grain that I couldn't resist.  Rather belatedly I discovered that yew is apparently poisonous...
