Quod oculus meus videt

Don't Touch Me!

One thing we've learned this year is that the local park is a hive of activity.  Saturday afternoon at this time of year seems to be the time for rugby and the local Bloxwich RFC use the pitches provided.  It was something of a rout against Church Stretton this afternoon.  The best place to stand to capture the action was behind Church Stretton's goal area.

Got chatting with one of the spectators who is involved with the club.  The side is ageing, with few younger players coming through.  In contrast he admired the opposition, who had a relatively young side.  Only one local school plays rugby and there doesn't appear to be a close relationship between the club and the school to allow younger players to join.  They haven't got a colts system in place.  They're going to struggle without some young blood, particularly with the attritional nature and physicality of modern rugby.
