Autumn in a Brussels park

Late this afternoon, as the light began to fade, I sat in the Square du Petit Sablon in front of the statues of the Counts Egmont & Hoorn, heroes of the “Dutch Wars” against Spanish occupation.

The light and the colours were beautiful and the story is both stirring and familiar for Goethe’s play about Egmont inspired accompanying music by Beethoven the most famous piece of which is the “Egmont Overture” ( here if you want to remind yourself : https://youtu.be/7QY8G4OJG6c )

My extra picture is very different - glimpsed in a shop window tonight.
