Finale!

In the immortal words of Kenneth Wolstenholme, “They think it’s all over... it is now!”

Liverpool Mental Health Festival 2017 drew to a close tonight at Blackburne House with a bit of a bang!

If alternative funding doesn’t come through next month then this could be the last event we put on, and we wanted it to be special. So our friends from Katumba drummed and danced their hearts out whilst our buddies from Bring The Fire put on a spectacular fire performance of their own.

Earlier in the evening, Bring The Fire offered flow arts workshops to eager children and adults alike and there was a real carnival atmosphere. There was some tasty curry on offer too.

As ever, I want to thank everyone who made the last two weeks possible. The Festival has included almost 50 free events, and we believe it’s not only raised awareness and challenged stigma but it’s also brought people together and made them feel better, however briefly. And that’s what we’re all about. So, thanks to everyone who came along to the events, everyone who ran events, performers, workshop leaders, venues, volunteers, media partners, tech people and more... But, in particular, enormous thanks to Sarah and Nici, who are utterly awesome!

I’ve put a selection of other photos from tonight’s performance at https://flickr.com/photos/129535142@N04/sets/72157687392607050 if you’d like a look.

And, to play us out, here’s The Band with ‘Life is a Carnival’ www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jkM54WVWeA&list=PLmM8UTDy4pXBnxPcE-aHUpoOkoTZT0v2t&index=28

Now, I’m off to put my feet up, catch up with some podcasts, watch some DVDs, eat some chocolate and get some sleep!
