Red Sky in the Afternoon

The view looking ENE at 15:12 this afternoon from the layby on the B2116 near Watershoot Shaw, at the foot of the bostal leading up to the summit of Blackcap.

The surreal colours are due to the scattering of blue light by dust from the Sahara, along with debris from forest fires on the Iberian peninsula, swept in by the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia.

To give some idea of the effect of the light on the landscape around here, today's 'Extra' shows more or less the same scene at 15:28 today that I blipped here on Friday.
