My Best Efforts - Year 3

The Castle.................

.................Am out of my usual area this morning. This is the Castle at Newark on Trent, Nottinghamshire. It sits right on the bank of the River Trent and in very well maintained grounds. Founded in the 12th Century by Alexander, Bishop of Lincoln and dismantled in the 17th Century after the English Civil War. Restored in the 19th Century then bought by Newark Corporation in 1889. Gilstrap Heritage Centre, an admission free Museum, is in the grounds. (Unfortunately it wasn't open this morning). King John died here on the 18th of October 1216. Good heavens, have just realised thats nearly 800 years ago!!!

Weather in the village bright and sunny but was cloudy in Newark.

Thank you everyone for putting Beryl's Orchid into the Spotlight - she and I are so pleased - :-))).
