An Unkindness of Ravens

Brolga

Today's outing was to Healesville Sanctuary; always a popular choice with children.

I took a lot of photos (of course) but was struggling with the low lighting conditions that a lot of the animals were in (it was a beautiful sunny day, so I was surprised by that) so a lot were borderline hand held and ended up a bit fuzzy (a lovely lightweight easy to carry tripod would be good!). Still had quite a few nice ones though, so it was very hard to choose. In the end I went with this brolga, just because I liked the simplicity of it and the curves.

Brolgas are graceful native cranes, with lovely smooth grey feathers and a funny orangey/red bit on top of their heads.

LARGE BROLGA

Some more of Healesville's inhabitants:
A scaly ibis
A pelican
A cormorant
and of course, a koala.
