Missionary plant

Why this plant is apparently known as the Missionary Plant I have no idea. I can see how the names 'Chinese Money Plant', Lollipop Plant or 'Pancake Plant' might have occurred, as the leaves are quite round. 

Pilea peperomioides is a shapely plant from south China grown as a houseplant here. I bought mine from a local garden centre and already a number of offsets are forming around the base. - I imagine it will make quite a big, bushy plant in time.
