Autumn fruits

At the market today, autumn had well and truly arrived. One stall was selling nothing but ceps and lactaires délicieux, still covered in earth. This organic producer had all her autumn vegetables pleasingly arranged.

We'd hoped to lunch at the Tira-tap, as we haven't been able to do so for a month. But evidently if we don't go every week, it's not viable ... it was closed :( Instead we went to another restaurant we haven't been to in a while, which has a lovely vine-shaded terrace at the back, away from passing traffic. It has changed hands since the last time we went; the prices have increased with no corresponding improvement in the food quality. Admittedly it was too cheap before, which is probably why it went out of business! But it's still very pleasant for a simple lunch, and the rosé was excellent. We were a little shocked that 80% of the clients were British ... being in a back street, it used to be very much a locals' place. In fact not many people knew about it, another reason for its lack of success.

Anyway, we won't be back at Lézignan market for a while ... other horizons beckon!
