The "Official" Rules of Calling Shotgun.

Shotgun (n): The front passenger seat of a vehicle.
Calling Shotgun (vb): The act of claiming shotgun position for oneself.

Our department at work is geographically moving within our building in the near future. An e-mail came out regarding this and also the trialing of a couple of dual screen workstations.

What else could a self proclaimed geek such as myself do but call shotgun on the dual screen workstation. So an e-mail was forwarded back to the manager doing exactly that.

Apparently "Calling Shotgun" has some additional local rulings. I was in fact calling shotgun based on an Alloa ammendment that states:

"Shotgun can be called as soon as the journey/activity has been announced"

My collegue tried to overrule me stating that Shotgun can't be called until the seat can be physically seen.

There is a website detailig Official Shotgun Rules but as I stated, any old joe with a computer and an internet connection could have thrown that together unaware of local Alloa rules.

Another additional Alloa rule the "Official" rules missed out was, states that:
"No virgin is allowed to call shotgun."

Do you have any additional local rules on calling shotgun?
