North Berwick

We started the day with breakfast at the Botanical Gardens and then went out to North Berwick where it was very windy. Perhaps the wind was the tail of Storm Bryan passing over.

It was the first time I have been to North Berwick. I think I might struggle to think of a pressing reason to return, perhaps to the beach on a sunny day, but the town itself is without any obvious draws, though nearby Tantallon Castle might be worth a visit on another occasion.

After a walk on the Seacliff Beach which has a view of Bass Rock. On Bass Rock there is a lighthouse, but it does not look much like the lighthouse I photographed somewhere in the town. A mid afternoon snack then a walk around the town. We visited the small harbour area where there is the Seabird Centre. The nearest penguins will be at Edinburgh zoo, but there is a statue showing penguins outside the Seabird Centre.
