2nd Sat Strollers

I paint your skin with light

Here's another poem from the pictured 2016 Selected Poems by Michael Symmons Roberts ...

... I'm thoroughly enjoying this newly discovered volume:

What Unites Us

At dusk I tempt the sun,
set a glass of water on the ledge,
to lure it into clarity and cold.
At dawn I wake to find
a twist of albumen suspended,
sun snared in the act of setting,
unable to raise itself.
Now we have it, what to do?

I dip a finger, paint your skin with light,
then we both drink the rest
and sow a star to grow
divided in us, pulling us together
as it seeks itself. What solar
systems strengthen in us now?
