Oldest grandchild Catriona relives her experience of some days at Ardentinny Outdoor Centre last term when we visit the shingle beach from which she learned kayaking. We’ve already explored the rocky shore at the other side of Glenfinart Bay, climbed the steep forest path behind the beach, had an unexpected meeting with a pal and walked back into the village. Now dusk is falling over the stillness of Loch Long and the menace of the nuclear submarine base on the far side of the Loch and her grandparents are beyond tired, but the excitement is contagious and lovely.
