Today was my final hire for Earlston Rugby Club. We were through at Tranent to play Ross High and unfortunately, the boys lost sixty nine points to seven. When they appeared back at the bus, they had all changed into fancy dress as there was a Halloween party back at Earlston. I stopped in Ormiston to let them pop into the local co-op for some more beer, but they didn’t stop at the pub in Lauder, it was straight back down the road.

When we got to the club, they presented me with a bottle of wine, a box of chocolates and an invite to a function in December to raise funds for Doddie Weir’s Motor Neurone Disease charity. They are a great bunch of lads.
