Selfies from the Brink

The Fourth Day

On the fourth day, we ate and drank and lived our lives.
After three days of unreturned prayers, nothing had changed.
In the morning, some of our children asked: "Why do we have to pray?"
The heat was unbearable.
"It is nothing we have to worry about," we said. "It's summer."
Some of us sought refuge in the doorways, but most enjoyed the bright light that was shining upon us.
The saints kept quiet, life was good.
