"Les Feuilles Mortes"

A slightly different take. (Macro image of the morning sun shining through a grape leaf rich in anthocyanins.) It got me singing this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6e1-2yxQPs  Autumn Leaves was originally a French song, Les Feuilles Mortes, sung by Yves Montand in the film Les Portes de la Nuit. Johnny Mercer wrote the English lyrics in 1947.

We loved having our granddaughter to eat with us before I took her to a local centre for autistic young people where she is volunteering her help. This is the first time she has been. I've had a text saying that she got on well. I'm looking forward to hearing more about it tomorrow while we are carving.

Today's poem is The Wreck by Don Paterson. https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/58266/the-wreck-56d23c7c07830

DP says, ".... is about as late in the day a love poem gets before it turns into something else."
Those "bull-black wines .... like bells of blood" had me thinking of that 70s favourite Bull's Blood of Eger, "red wine with horns".
