Artichokes almost 4m high with flowers blowing in the breeze.

The tubers are edible and suitable for diabetics since they contain inulin rather than starch. Someone came and dug up a sack last year and was very happy, but it hasn't stopped them spreading. I'm told that stems can be used as fuel. They don't always seem to flower.

It brightened up this afternoon as you can see from the sky:) Yesterdays forecast of devastating storms was overestimated although it did rain quite hard.
