Walk to Catrigg Force

Woke up this morning to another grey but dry day.

We drove across the northern part of the Dales through Hawes and past the Ribbleshead Viaduct, stopping briefly for a coffee and toasted tea cake at a lovely walkers cafe in Pen-y-Gynt.

Having arrived at Stainforth for a supposedly easy walk from the village to the waterfall Catrigg Force we were surprised to find that the ascent over a mile was quite steep (or I am getting soft) on a narrow track and we arrived at the Falls exhausted. However the scene was well worth the effort and I was glad we did it.

This image was taken on the return journey back to the car park and gives you some idea of the spectacular scenery.
