Meeting a mother

We went to Bath today and after I dropped Helena in Weston, I went for a drive into the countryside. I headed west then south and ended up in a small hamlet Stanton Prior.

I loved the quiet as I stood at the crossroads next to Poplar Farm. Flights of migrating birds flew south overhead while a flock of white geese had discussions in their paddock enclosed by stone walls and hedges. The trees in the orchard next to the barn were laden with apples and possibly a quince.

A few yards away I came across this heifer and her growing calf. I thought they looked very healthy and I took the opportunity of taking a portrait, using my macro lens which was still on the camera.
