Return to the North

Our little star

J here is an absolute darling. When I first met him (when I came back from NZ on holiday) I thought he was quite shy and a bit reticent. To be fair he was still also quite young. In some ways I wasn’t wrong, he can be shy but he has just the sweetest and most engaging nature.
J isn’t 7 until January but in his short life he has already had lots of challenges. Early this year he got a virus that was very Debilitating for several months, meaning lots of time off school/ doing part days etc. He obviously fell behind with his school work as a result. He also stutters (although this has improved significantly) More recently he has been diagnosed with dyspraxia and dyslexia, the former a mild form of, the latter a severe form of.
So far he is taking it all in his happy stride. This week he got two awards at school. One was for settling in and giving everything his all and the second one was for balancing (something he will forever struggle with as a dyspraxia)
Sis and I both got big hugs today (they went on holiday to Gran Canaria while we went to Scotland!) I treasure every hug.
As an aside I was listening to Jeremy Bine today. He had ‘an expert’ on saying that we should no longer be tickling our children when they say no because by doing so we are harassing them and teaching them therefore that harassment is OK! The expert also went on to say that when changing the nappy of a youngster and wiping them clean we should also be telling them that we are only doing this because they can’t do it for themselves. Thus reinforcing that we aren’t sexually abusing/ harassing them. Man alive I nearly smashed the radio in, the world’s gone mad! Did email the show to say exactly what I thought.
Thank goodness J here likes a cuddle and a tickle!
