Noodle hair

Some truly horrifying cakes were baked for our building's Halloween competition. The winner was suitably spooky and one particularly grotesque bloody woman's face with noodle hair remained uneaten whenever I popped down.

At yoga the teacher was in funny Halloween mode so we practised to Thriller and the Ghostbusters theme. In jivamukti yoga, the style I'm drawn to at the moment, there is always a theme of the month. For November it is 'being kind to yourself'. All very appropriate given the usual levels of self-flagellation that I like to aspire to.

The chant at the start of the class was powerful and involved picturing your five-year old self, innocent, wondrous and young in front of your current self, experienced, inspiring and older. It was quite moving and usually in yoga I'm impressed at what the brain can do when it escapes the constant thumping of emails, stress and worry.

The yoga teacher is a funny bean and swore a lot today. Which I like as it helps yogis to be seen as relatable humans; not these semi-godly spindly vegans whose purity we can never hope to emulate.

Living in flats is very useful for avoiding trick and treaters. Worth years of stair climbing alone.
