Canada geese

We went for a walk around the Musselburgh Ash Lagoons. There are a lot of geese, and we watched small groups flying around to join up into a big squadron before settling down on the water. If you step off the path, you send up a cloud of ash.  We pondered the use of the thing in the extra, and deduced that the ash (from the now extinct coal power station in Cockenzie) was laid out and sprayed with water from these jets to cool it down, then piled up into giant mounds. Apparently, it's now one of the top bird watching spots around Edinburgh
