The Long Way Down

After a good walk with the boys, we drove to the marina, parked up and walked along Madeira Drive to watch the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.  It was nice and sunny, so the perfect day for it.

It's the longest running motoring event in the world, the first one took place in 1896, and over the years many racing drivers and celebrities have taken part.  According to Wikipedia, Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco took part in 1968, but this year we saw ex-formula 1 champion Damon Hill, and actor/writer Charley Boorman as pictured above.

Charley Boorman did a series of programmes with Ewan McGregor, the first was called 'The Long Way Round' where they rode east on motorbikes from London to New York via Eurasia and North America. Then a few years later they road from John O'Groats in Scotland through 18 countries in Europe and Africa to Cape Town in South Africa and this was called 'The Long Way Down'.

Seeing as they drove from London to Brighton at an average speed of 20 miles per hour, I thought 'The Long Way Down' was the perfect title for my blip :-)

Back home for a hot chocolate in the Palace followed by a Sunday roast, a much better day than yesterday where I worked in the morning and then stood ironing for a few hours in the afternoon.  We've got two stressed out doggies though, who don't like the fireworks and as much as I love watching them, I'm glad that they're now over, poor boys.

Anyway, I hope you've all had a good weekend x
