Wanderings & Witterings

Rough

Our walk on Tuesday with Cumbernauld & Kilsyth Ramblers started and ended at the Falkirk Wheel, but most of the outward route followed the line of the Antonine Wall westwards, while the return route was along the Forth & Clyde Canal.

It was a morning of persistent, and occasionally heavy, drizzle (becoming a bit of a pattern on Tuesdays!) and I must admit that I abandoned the walk when the outward 'leg' reached Bonnybridge, taking a bus home from there. In fairness, that was due to an urgent domestic issue that required my attention rather than the inclement weather.

This photo was taken as we entered the part of the Antonine Wall known as Rough Castle, the site of a Roman fort near what is now Bonnybridge.
