Assynt sunrise

Day 4 of my photography workshop. The original plan had been to climb Stac Pollaidh before sunrise, but with a combination of wind and low cloud we never had the right weather for that. As a compensation, we went to Achnahaird Bay and sat in pitch black in the minibus with the rain beating against the windows. Gradually the dark lifted and the rain eased, and at last we could climb a low rise on Rubha Mor that might show the sunrise over the Assynt hills.

As our guide had hoped, the rain cleared from the east, and we got a few precious minutes of sunrise underneath the cloud. In this shot, Stac Pollaidh is on the left, with Cul Mor behind it, and Ben Mor Coigach to the right.

Once again, the lighting was a real challenge; this is a combination of multiple exposures and I hope I haven't over-cooked it!
