Little Mix

We have had an amazing day!

Up and out to catch the first tour bus of the day from our nearest stop. We arrived at the start of the tour in George’s Square as presumably all the local army cadets were gathering ready to start selling poppies today. They were a notable presence all over the city although at the Eleventh Hour, we were on the tour bus with a remote commentary so my silence was a personal reflective one.

The first place we decided to ‘hop off’ was the Riverside Museum. Really interesting - the architecture of the building, the contents and the history of the area. A quick cake stop to fortify is before “hopping on” again.

This time we got off at the Huntarian but with hindsight I think I bodged it. We wandered around the art gallery but Princess had soon had enough and had no desire to visit the Macintosh House. I think we completely missed that the museum must be separate!

We then walked through the university down to the Kelvingrove Museum which was much more up Princess’s street! Having missed a day of school yesterday, we spent most time in the Egyptian gallery taking photos - this is her current School topic and they were due to make death masks. Well now she’s seen a real life wrapped mummy, 2 sarcophagi, conopic jars, a mummified head, foot and hand and an actual death mask. Oh and the skeleton of an Eygptian priest(?) whose mummy rotted so was reburied in a smaller sarcophagus!

We hopped back on a with the intention of having afternoon tea at the Willow Tea Rooms as recommended by my mum. Only they are closed for refurbishment. A lady ran out and I asked if it was recent as my Mum visited 2 weeks ago. Oh no she said, your Mum must have gone to the other Willow Tea Rooms that are not the real ones and have no link to CRM!! She then sent us off to another cafe - which was also shut!

At this point we gave up and went to John Lewis where Princess still chose an afternoon tea! Fortified, we went back to the start of the Bus Tour again and caught the last bus back to where we got on this morning.

After a quick rest it was back out for the main event. The tour bus went the route we needed to walk so we knew the way - 10 minutes as predicted! The show itself was amazing, I thoroughly enjoyed it despite not being a particular fan of Little Mix. They were very aware of their audience (little girls) and came across as lovely young women. Very Spice Girls “Girl Power” which made me smile.

The walk home was brisk, mainly because it is chuffing freezing. Telly in bed is called for to try and bring Princess down from her post Little Mix high!
