FREMANTLE

It has been another beautiful day today with bluish skies and the Freo Dr bursting with energy.  I have been attempting to make Miss S a summer frock dress - a tad difficult when you are a little rusty.  I'm nearly there with a few more finishing touches to complete it.

This afternoon I ventured into Fremantle to the WA Shipwrecks Museum - another of my favourite places to visit.  There are two Maritime Museums in Fremantle, one that is modern and houses Australia II (the 12m yacht that beat the US back in the early 80s) and the Shipwrecks Museum.
The Shipwrecks Museum is a limestone building and thankfully has been restored beautifully.
The Shipwrecks Museum houses hundreds of relics from ships wrecked along WAs coastline including the original timbers from the Batavia.  Also, a Batavia 'victim' with a cutting wound to the top of its skull and more.  Fascinating.  You might need a strong stomach to read the history of the Batavia shipwreck.
It's worth googling 'Batavia' to look at the 17th century ship.
The extra is the top end of the anchor in the main picture.

Have a good week everyone.
