Golden Broom

A lovely day after a frosty start. This afternoon my son and I went for a walk on the north side of the Waimakariri Gorge Bridge. We were high on the bluff, but because of the trees only occasionally was the river visible. There are a lot of dirt tracks popular with trail bike riders and people who want to dump their rubbish for free :(

It is not a beautiful place, but today the broom was in flower making it colourful and bright. I love the fresh fragrance of broom flowers and it filled the air. Birds were heard, but not seen- bellbirds, a grey warbler and a fantail. I was thrilled to hear the fantail because I have not seen any this spring.
