Kathmandu Motorcycle Diaries

Today I went to Nepali Church, spent afternoon with an NGO planning some mental health training into rural areas and had a meal and welcome in a Nepali home, all rich and wonderful.

I also was transported by my respective hosts around the crazy streets of Kathmandu on the back of their motorcycles.

10 things I learned on my motorbike travel
1. Sit forward or you’ll destabilise the bike
2. You’re always in dust storm
3. Avoid cows
4. If you see a policeman “controlling” the traffic ride fast at him and he’ll wave you through
5. On a road, even a dual carriageway you drive on the side of the road in which your next turn it anticipated
6. The law however suggests you drive on the left hand side....or the right...or the middle...or simply zig-zag depending on your view on fatalism
7. If you’re a dog, sun bathing in the middle of a dual carriage way is fine
8. One inch clearance either side is “plenty”
9. It’s a good core workout
10. You’re glad that you have friends who are praying for you.

There is another thing...let’s not do that again.
