A Walk Through Deb's Life

Grass Fed?

We went for a drive this afternoon - what a crazy week it's been. I mean really, the coldest and most dangerous weather in history last week (perhaps a slight exaggeration), our granddaughter arriving a bit early, dropping everything to take care of Owen (two years old with energy to spare) for 48 hours, and picking up groceries and preparing a couple meals for our daughter and her growing family...crazy, I tell you. Crazy, yet wonderful. So we decided to take a ride out in the country to relax and celebrate - just us.

This sight was a surprise as we drove along the frozen Rock River in northern Illinois through Dixon (the birthplace of Ronald Reagan) and Oregon (not the one north of California. The Rock River was not at all as scenic as it is other times of year and it was actually a bit disappointing. Mr. Mellow (as I have nick-named him just today) drove along patiently stopping whenever I asked him to, to gather a collection of blip-potential shots; while I considered what might be a good follow up to yesterday's blip- how can one follow anything as incredible as a new grandchild's entry into the world? Mr. Mellow made a few turns off the main road and suddenly this came into our view.

It seems profound to me. Cattle outside (a couple were playing with each other, while another was rubbing his head on the top rail of the fence) in well-below freezing temps, acting as though everything is normal, when nothing at all is normal.

I guess the only question that remains is: are they grass fed or nuclear fed?
