Lonesome Pine

Mr Flum is still suffering from the bad cold I cast off over a week ago and he needed a blast of fresh air so we took a walk round the block, which usually means round Fairmilehead park.

This tree has been on my Bliplist ever since I joined but there is often a red car parked underneath, which has spoiled many a photo. When flat number 3 in nearby Comiston House was for sale the estate agent added: The impressive Austrian pine tree in the front garden has been nominated as one of Scotland's top 100 heritage trees by the Forestry Commission. It is thought to be one of the first of its type planted in the UK and is at least 175 years old.

I recall that, when the new houses were planned opposite, there was local concern that it would be removed; possibly as a result of the objections it now falls in the TPO - 4 zone of protected trees. May it continue to thrive.
