So much rain!

I woke up during the night and could hear the rain lashing down. Really, really hammering down. I wasn't surprised therefore to not be able to get along the main road to the craft shop to do my volunteer stint - water was gushing over the road from an overflowing loch and cars were getting stuck in the fast flowing water.

I returned home, a friend who lived the other side of the flood covering for me in the shop, and later on had a wander down the road to see if the culvert near me was full. It was, full and then some!

According to weather reports over 76mm of rain has fallen here in South Uist over the last 24 hours! Nearly 8% of our annual total by my reckoning - wow!
