Nikau Palm

Nikau Palms appear on the coastal fringe north of Greymouth. They are truly glorious.

I remember as a kid we would use the part of the frond that attaches to the trunk to sit in and slide down hills. Great fun.

'Horse poo' signs advertising manure for gardens sometimes appear at farm gates. I found one today but the green and shapes of the nikau branch won out for my blip.
