A Day Worth Recording

Cool

Day 4.  We awoke to a rather wet Interlaken and the forecast wasn't great; however, after a leisurely breakfast-cum-lunch and a walk along the river joining the two lakes, we decided to head upwards anyway.  If nothing else, getting above the clouds seems a possibility.

So we caught the train out to Wilderswil and, from there, the cogwheel mountain train up to the Schynige Platte - the ridge that bounds the southern side of the lake at around 7000ft.

It's not been easy to pick a single photo for this, plenty of shots looking down onto clumps of clouds wandering along the valleys, however, this is one of the glaciers visible en-route.

At the top there's an alpine garden, which sounded promising but didn't hold our interest for long, so we set out along the ridge on one of the waymarked paths.  Not having a decent map, and with the weather unpredictable, we kept in sight of clear markers but it was good to get over the immediate ridge to see along the valley below before heading back to the train.

In a rare case of poor Swiss timetabling, there were no connecting trains or busses in Wilderswil so we walked back into Interlaken.

I'm starting to put some additional pictures in the blipfolio
