Quod oculus meus videt

Curled

Collecting fallen leaves in the garden is becoming a regular task.  Our beautiful Acer palmatum has finally started to drop its leaves.  We have seen it grow from a small plant to its current height of 5 feet and spread of 10 feet.  It dominates the view from the conservatory.

Perhaps because in previous years I've not normally been at home during daylight hours when this happens, I hadn't noticed how the leaves curled up on themselves.  It was enough to collect one and make a bit more effort to photograph the leaf in distress at the end of its existence.
