SOB - Marieta Islands

Not everything on a South of the Border Volleyball Vacation directly relates to volleyball. Take today for example, after a round of tournament play this morning, we loaded into buses for a 45 minute ride to Punta de Mita, where we boarded pangas for a quick trip to the Marieta Islands. This protected marine park was once a military testing ground and there are numerous bomb craters throughout the chain. Access to the land is strictly controlled, but we were able to take our little pangas up close to view the some of the craters as is shown here. Pretty amazing snorkeling as well because any kind of fishing is completely banned from this totally uninhabited area.
