DOG WALK

This is another dog walking area by the River Foss in the lovely village of New Earswick on the out skirts of York.
The village was ordered to be built by Joseph Rowntree to offer housing to both factory workers and managers at the cocoa works, originally 28 houses were built in 1902 and the population in 2001 was 2,812.
The clay to form the bricks came from the village, and in 1930 the brick yard closed and is now a Nature Reserve.
The fence you can see in my blip was to stop otters crossing a very busy road on their way to take fish out of the N R lake, however, it is unfortunate that the remaining otters found a way through the fence and to date no recent reports of live otters following the death of four whilst trying to cross.
