Defeated in Marvão

I admit myself defeated - at trying to capture how stunning is the town of Marvão... feel humbly privileged to have been able to spend the night there, and wander its streets. Nobel prize-winning author José Saramago wrote of the village ‘‘From Marvão one can see the entire land... It is understandable that from this place, high (850m above sea level) up in the keep at Marvão Castle, visitors may respectfully murmur, ‘How great is the world.’’.

(Have now created an album, if you'd like to see more.)

Also visited Castelo de Vide, then drove home through Spain, straight to a wine and roast chestnut gathering at a friend's; then to the Eucharist; then to our weekly dinner with the Padre.

Great day. Now to bed - up early in the morning to take our visitors to catch their train in Évora, back to Faro.
