Devizes (Sunday 26th November 2017)

I managed to get out of the house and hopped over to Devizes. I did visit Caen Hill Locks but it was very quiet there, the light was dull and uninteresting and I didn't see any of the swans. My Extra shows the Caen Hill Moorings.

Luckily I had parked earler beside the Crammer pond, where there were half a dozen swans, mostly on the adjacent Green trying to obtain food from visitors. At the Crammer a man and small child were throwing sliced white bread, unfortunately, to a gathering of ducks and gulls. I wanted to say something but didn't want to come across as a killjoy.

These black headed gulls, still in non-breeding plumage, had their backs to the pond, scorning such unhealthy offerings.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Phil Harris & Bruce Reitherman - The Bare Necessities (1967)
This was one of Sam Taylor-Johnson's choices on Miranda Sawyer's Sound And Vision programme on 6 Music on this day.
The Bare Necessities is a song, written by Terry Gilkyson, from the animated 1967 Disney film The Jungle Book, sung by Phil Harris as Baloo and Bruce Reitherman as Mowgli. Originally, it was written for an earlier draft of the movie that was never produced. The Sherman Brothers, who wrote the other songs of the film, kept this as the only song used from the previous version. A reprise of the song was sung by Sebastian Cabot as Bagheera and Phil Harris as Baloo at the end of the film. Van Dyke Parks worked on the arrangement, which was his first paid gig after moving to California. - Wikipedia
