Wound up in Wexford

Pinebanks tower

We were swapping internet providers this morning, so on awakening, we had no internet access.  So with nothing to keep us in the house, we went for a walk around Whitlingham Broad.  Managed to get there (via the recycling centre and the charity shop), round, coffee and panini in the Visitor Centre, and back home before the rain arrived.

It was very dull, with little to inspire photography.  However, I was taken with the tower visible on the hill opposite.  I'd not noticed it before, perhaps because we have previously always walked clockwise around the broad, and today we went anti-clockwise - it is interesting how this changes ones perspective.

A little research with Google Maps (after we came home and found our internet access restored) identified it as Pinebanks Tower, aka Taylor's Folly.  The tower is a Grade 2 listed building, originally built in the garden of Pinebanks House.  Pinebanks House burnt down in 2014.  The whole area currently appears derelict, and awaiting redevelopment.
