CPR

This evening I was at the village hall in Dunscore. Our community council is about to install an AED (cardiac defibrillator) in the old phone box next to the church, and training was being offered. It's a long time since I was trained to do any kind of resuscitation and things have changed since then. For example, it's widely accepted that you should just give cardiac compressions and not mouth-to-mouth in most cases of cardiac arrest occurring outside a healthcare setting.I can tell you that the safest place to have an arrest will be in church on Sunday morning as about half of the people being trained will be there, the defibrillator is close by and the church car park has a reasonable phone signal.
